Thai Spice
"One of the Best Restaurants in Ft. Lauderdale”

Received the 5-Star Diamon Award PLUS...
Zagat Survey 2010 - “Recognized for
Excellence/Extraordinary Food”

By Philip Boccaccino

The team at Thai Spice has done it again! Thai Spice has recently been awarded the five star diamond award by the American Academy of Hospitality and Science. This is just one of numerous awards the restaurant keeps winning. From the Zagat surveys of 2010 where it was voted the best Thai food in South Florida to the countless television shows presenting their creative dishes. Michael and his team strive to keep their menu and surroundings current and up-to-date. In an ever changing market this is a strategic move. Thai Spice reinvents dishes and tries to keep their specials centered on locally grown produce or locally caught seafood, from purveyors around the state.

We recently did a follow up review of Michael and his team at Thai Spice. Just when you think it can't get any better they did it again! We started with one of their award winning dishes - their salt and pepper fresh Key West pink shrimp which is panned seared in the shell. It is topped off with sautéed shallots and jalapeno served with chili cream sauce. We also dined on their spring rolls - a vegetarian and the new "Rock N Roll" stuffed roll with sweet rock shrimp and served with a chili infused plum sauce with crushed roasted peanuts and cilantro. In addition, we dined on their crispy calamari tossed in the wok with a garlic purple Thai basil and a light chili sauce. This can be served mild, medium or hot.

Their entrees are creative - such as their fresh Rhode Island sole, pan seared with a Thai garlic buttered lemon sauce, scallions, cilantro and cracked red pepper. Another must try is their prime bone-in herb crusted 30-day dry-aged rib-eye steak and 30-day dry-aged cowboy steak. They also serve a fresh 3lb Maine lobster stuffed with blue crab meat, a whole shrimp and a fresh diver sea scallops baked in the oven with your choice of sauce. This is a star dish worth the splurge! Let's not forget their signature desserts and knowledgeable wait staff. With all this going for them their reputation speaks for itself.

I feel that the future of the restaurant business and the ones that will survive will be going green and incorporating these items into their menus. These awards are not easy to obtain. You must be consistent and give the finest quality service to your customers to obtain such high standards. Hats off to Michael and his crew at Thai Spice for creating a winner in a very competitive market.
